The Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Spokane River Rats, 8-6, in Pacific action at Foxes Ballpark, with Salt Lake City pitcher Mike Oquist named player of the game. Rocky Childress, credited with the save, is now 14 for 20 in save opportunities. Even with the win, the Buzz have a dismal 33-86 record.

It could have been a different outcome for Salt Lake City, had it not been for Xavier Curley, the 21-year old third baseman . Curley contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put Salt Lake City up, 1-0.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Oquist. "Successful pitchers do it."
