Spiders Score Late to Upend Yankees, 6-5
The inspired effort of New York third baseman Travis Fryman was not enough to prevent a 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Spiders. Fryman was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Steve Karsay in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jose Mesa took the loss. The Yankees, now 9-17, continue their poor start.

Darryl Strawberry was the walk-off hero for Cleveland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spiders designated hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Cleveland manager Wilson Ogle.
