Storm Chasers Fall to Staton, Buzz
|
Buzz first baseman Dave Staton put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers. Staton was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Salt Lake City in the contest. Salt Lake City reliever Doug Piatt picked up the win to move to 1-2. Dave Shipanoff suffered the loss. Todd Frohwirth got the save, his 10th in 13 chances.
Robert Perez, the Salt Lake City left fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 6-5, Buzz. For the game, Perez went 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Buzz manager . "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Salt Lake City is now 21-97. Omaha is 82-36.
