Stag Score Late to Upend Storm Chasers, 3-2
|
Omaha pitcher Jeff Sellers gave the Stag all they could handle, but in the end, Portland left Tuttle Fields with a 3-2 win. Sellers allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 7 innings. Portland reliever Todd Burns picked up the win, upping his record to 7-2. Tony J. Castillo shouldered the loss. The second-place Stag have won 5 in a row.
The Stag got a big at-bat from third baseman Josh Booty. For the game, Booty was 1-4. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 11th hit of the season gave Portland a 2-1 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Booty.
