Missions Topple Lazy Fisherman as Polonia Shines
|
A 3-RBI performance from left fielder Luis Polonia, who is tied for 6th in the PAC in stolen bases with 11, led the San Antonio Missions to a 6-4 win over the Naperville Lazy Fisherman. Tim Belcher was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Heathcliff Slocumb got the save, his 16th in 19 chances.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Bill Sampen threw a full count slider to Polonia, which he hit to right for a run-scoring double. It put San Antonio in front, 5-4.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said San Antonio manager .
With the win over Naperville, the Missions improved to 66-55.
