Swamp Foxes Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
The Savannah Swamp Foxes moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Southeast Slammers at Paradise Grounds by a score of 6-1. Swamp Foxes first baseman Phil B. Clark was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. The win gives the Swamp Foxes a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

The tide might have turned with two out in the top of the eighth, had not Ken Ryan made a big pitch. With the bases loaded and the Slammers trailing 4-1, he retired Joe Vitiello, who grounded out.

The next game is set to be played Saturday, August 17th, 1996 at Ravens Ballpark. Slated to start are Alan Benes for the Savannah Swamp Foxes and Scott Scudder for the the Southeast Slammers.
