Whalers Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of shortstop F P Santangelo, the Hartford Whalers got a road win against the Savannah Swamp Foxes, 6-2, in Game 3 of the Division Series today. Santangelo went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for the Whalers, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 3 games to 0.
Santangelo's key contribution came in the top of the ninth when he sent a 1-2 fastball into right-center for a run-scoring single. It put the Whalers ahead, 4-2.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Hartford manager told reporters.
