Lazy Fisherman Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
|
Despite a great performance by Portland right fielder Jeff Barry, the Naperville Lazy Fisherman defeated the Stag by the score of 6-3 at Ballpark of Milton today. Barry went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Lazy Fisherman from moving one game closer to the League Championship Series. Naperville now leads the Division Series 2-0.
A key at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Ron Karkovice, hit a sacrifice fly. It made the score 4-3, Naperville, and helped them go on to win.
"We're happy," Karkovice told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
Game 3 is set to be played Sunday at Tuttle Fields in Portland. Slated to start are Robert Person for Naperville and Scott Kamieniecki for Portland.
