Savannah Breaks Through for First Win in League Championship Series; Now Trails 2-1
The Savannah Swamp Foxes have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Buffalo Bisons, winning 9-2 at Aspinwall Grounds today. Swamp Foxes left-hander C J Nitkowski was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Swamp Foxes to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Tied up with the Bisons in the top of the fifth inning, the Swamp Foxes got a boost from center fielder Ken R. Williams. With the bases loaded, Williams saw a 0-1 fastball from Mark Gardner and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Savannah on top, 3-2.

"We came out aggressive," said Swamp Foxes manager . "We came out swinging the bats."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Candy Sierra for the Savannah Swamp Foxes and Mac Suzuki for the the Buffalo Bisons.
