Sanders, Royals Sink Creams Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of right fielder Reggie L. Sanders, the Kansas City Royals stopped the visiting Milwaukee Creams, 8-3, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Sanders went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Royals, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
In the bottom of the second, Kansas City left fielder Ray Lankford had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Lankford stroked a 2-run triple to right-center. It made the score 3-1, Kansas City. For the game, he was 2-3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We lost," Milwaukee manager Sean Norman said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, 1997 at Milwaukee County Stadium in Milwaukee. Slated to start are Rick Reed for Kansas City and Kelly Downs for Milwaukee.
