Rijo Handcuffs Royals, Reds Seize 2-0 Advantage in DS
With starter Jose Rijo leading the charge, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. The right-hander threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball at Royals Stadium to help Cincinnati take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Bernie Williams to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday, October 4th, 1996 in Cincinnati. The scheduled starters for the game are Rheal Cormier for Kansas City and Danny Jackson for Cincinnati.
