Division Series Game 1 Victory for Mussina and Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Reds powered past the visiting Chicago Cubs, 3-2, in the opener of the Division Series at Riverfront Stadium today. Cincinnati starting pitcher Mike Mussina threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Reds now lead the series 1-0.

With runs few and far between, the Reds had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Cincinnati came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when shortstop Omar Vizquel delivered a 2-run double. The double was hit off Randy Tomlin and made the score 3-2, Reds. Vizquel was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"Winning is contagious," said Mussina. "We're looking forward to the next game."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati. Slated to start are Eric King for the Chicago Cubs and Joey Hamilton for the the Cincinnati Reds.
