Reds Hammered by Thome, Drop Game 4 to Royals
The Kansas City Royals knotted up the Division Series at Riverfront Stadium today, thanks in large part to first baseman Jim Thome. Thome was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 as he overpowered the Cincinnati Reds, enabling Kansas City to grab the 6-4 win and move into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Kansas City used the timely hitting of Barry Larkin to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Royals on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.

Larkin said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Riverfront Stadium. Slated to start are Kevin Brown for Kansas City and Jim Abbott for Cincinnati.
