Royals Even With Reds After Walk-Off Win
|
Kansas City starter Denny Neagle turned in an exceptional performance and got some last-minute help as the Royals forced the Division Series into a decisive Game 7. The left-handed Neagle threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs in a must-win situation against the Cincinnati Reds, keeping Kansas City close enough to take the 4-3 victory on a 9th-inning walk-off. The winner of the series will advance to the League Championship.
In the bottom of the ninth, with Kansas City trailing 3-2, Jim Thome hit a fastball from Arthur Rhodes for a 2-run home run, giving the Royals the lead, 4-3.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Neagle said.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Royals Stadium in Kansas City. Slated to start are Jim Abbott for Cincinnati and Rheal Cormier for Kansas City.
