St. Louis Takes Division Series in Deciding Game
The Division Series went the distance before it all was said and done.

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Joe Robbie Stadium, the winner was the Cardinals.

They put away Florida 1-0 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Florida third baseman Matt Williams was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .414, scored 4 runs and batted in 10 to win the honor.

"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.

The St. Louis Cardinals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Cincinnati Reds - Kansas City Royals series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
