One game in and the Division Series is already looking exhausting.

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Montreal Expos needed 11 innings to settle Game 1, with the Blue Jays finally taking the 3-1 victory at Olympic Stadium. Earning player of the game honors in the win was Toronto starting pitcher Hipolito Pichardo, who threw 10 innings of 7-hit ball. The Blue Jays and Expos will play a best-of-7 series.

Pichardo was in the zone all game. He frustrated Montreal hitters while giving the Blue Jays 10 innings of quality work. Pichardo threw 117 pitches, allowing 7 hits and getting 4 punchouts.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Pichardo.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are Melido Perez for Toronto and Mark Guthrie for Montreal.
