Greene, Senators Sink Blue Jays Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of third baseman Willie Greene, the Washington Senators stopped the visiting Toronto Blue Jays, 8-3, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Greene went 2-2 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Senators, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
The Senators took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Toronto hurler Jeff D. Robinson with no outs, Greene hit a run-scoring triple.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Greene.
Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 4th, 1996 at SkyDome. Slated to start are Erik Hanson for the Washington Senators and Frank Wills for the the Toronto Blue Jays.
