Almost There: Toronto On Cusp of DS Triumph After 3-2 Win
The Toronto Blue Jays moved to within one game of the League Championship today, downing the visiting Montreal Expos at SkyDome by a score of 3-2. Blue Jays left-hander John Smiley was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Blue Jays a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.

The Expos had few good swings against Smiley, the left-hander, who threw 106 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits.

"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Toronto manager Jose Mata told reporters.

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at SkyDome. The scheduled starters for the game are Pat Hentgen for the Montreal Expos and Hipolito Pichardo for the the Toronto Blue Jays.
