Senators Cruise to League Championship with Sweep
|
The Washington Senators outclassed the Toronto Blue Jays in all facets of the game throughout the UL Division Series.
The end result was a Washington series sweep to advance to the League Championship, capped off by a 7-3 win in the final game.
"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said left fielder Carl Everett, who hit .400 in the series.
Everett's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .500 on-base percentage and had 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Washington Senators don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Montreal Expos - Arizona Diamondbacks series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
