Los Angeles Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
With starter Bill Pulsipher leading the charge, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Senators, 3-1, in Game 3 of the Division Series today. The left-hander threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball at RFK Stadium to help Los Angeles take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Jason Varitek struck a blow for the Dodgers in the top of the fifth when he hit a 2-run home run. It put his team ahead, 2-0. For the game, Varitek went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll savor this win," Varitek told the Los Angeles Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow in Washington. Slated to start are Ramiro Mendoza for Los Angeles and Livan Hernandez for Washington.
