Guthrie Handcuffs Diamondbacks, Expos Seize 2-1 Advantage in DS
The Montreal Expos got an exceptional performance from starter Mark Guthrie, who silenced the Arizona offense en route to a 6-0 shutout win in Game 3 of the Division Series today. The Diamondbacks could never get a bead on the left-handed Guthrie, who threw 9 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Expos now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

In his 126-pitch effort, Guthrie allowed no earned runs on 7 hits over 9 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 6.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Guthrie. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are Juan Nieves for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Jon Lieber for the the Montreal Expos.
