Washington Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2
The Washington Senators have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Los Angeles Dodgers, winning 2-1 at RFK Stadium today. Senators right fielder Vladimir Guerrero was named player of the game after he was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. The win cuts the deficit facing the Senators to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Guerrero had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Senators went on to win.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Guerrero said after the game.

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th, 1997 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Slated to start are Kevin Millwood for the Washington Senators and Greg Maddux for the the Los Angeles Dodgers.
