Reds Cruise to World Series with Sweep
|
Bernie Williams said he expected the League Championship to be "a battle from start to finish."
In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the Cincinnati Reds encountered little resistance in sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals, to advance to the World Series.
"It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Williams.
Cincinnati won the final game by a 4-2 count and were led in the series by Williams, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .533 with 0 home runs. He also drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Cincinnati Reds will play against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the next round. Arizona won their series against the Washington Senators 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.
