League Championship Game 1 Victory for Clemens and Los Angeles
|
The League Championship got off to a quiet start today, with the host Los Angeles Dodgers taking a low-scoring 1-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Los Angeles right-hander Roger Clemens was marvelous at Dodger Stadium and was named player of the game. The Dodgers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Clemens was in the zone all game. He frustrated Toronto hitters while giving the Dodgers 8 innings of quality work. Clemens threw 104 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 7 punchouts.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Clemens said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Slated to start are Hipolito Pichardo for the Toronto Blue Jays and Bill Pulsipher for the the Los Angeles Dodgers.
