Diamondbacks Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
A strong performance from pitcher Joey Hamilton was not enough for the Cincinnati Reds, who were stopped by the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks in a 2-0 loss in Game 2 of the World Series today. The Diamondbacks never truly figured out the right-handed Hamilton, who threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball to earn player of the game honors. Still, the Diamondbacks now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

Cincinnati had runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the ninth. With two out, Scott Rolen stood at the plate, hoping to find a gap. Instead, he struck out. The score remained 2-0, Arizona. The Reds never could mount a comeback.

Game 3 is set to be played Sunday in Cincinnati. The scheduled starters for the game are Floyd Youmans for Arizona and Jim Abbott for Cincinnati.
