Diamondbacks Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The Arizona Diamondbacks moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Washington Senators at Bank One Ballpark by a score of 4-1. Diamondbacks right-hander Floyd Youmans was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Diamondbacks a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship.

With two out in the bottom of the first, Sandy Alomar Jr. barreled up a curveball from Erik Hanson. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Diamondbacks in front, 3-0.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Youmans.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Bank One Ballpark. Slated to start are Livan Hernandez for the Washington Senators and Juan Nieves for the the Arizona Diamondbacks.
