Cincinnati Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-1
The Cincinnati Reds have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Arizona Diamondbacks, winning 6-3 at Riverfront Stadium today. Reds right-hander Mike Mussina was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Reds to 3-1 in the best-of-7 World Series.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Matt Stairs came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Arizona pitcher Chris Holt, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 4-3.

Mussina called the win "a collective effort."

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Riverfront Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Scott Karl for Arizona and Danny Jackson for Cincinnati.
