Diamondbacks Crowned Champions
With a 9-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds tonight at Riverfront Stadium, the Arizona Diamondbacks wrapped up their 1st title in team history.

Arizona left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Diamondbacks celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game.

"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Arizona manager Alen Maglajac. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."

A jovial mood filled the air as Arizona celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.

"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Arizona Diamondbacks," he said.

The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the United League West Division and a 94-68 record.
