Orioles Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-4 at Florida
|
Behind the bravura of second baseman Bill Spiers, the Baltimore Orioles topped the Florida Marlins by the score of 6-4. Spiers went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times for the Orioles. Tim Belcher got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. The save went to Roger McDowell, his 7th this season.
The result might have been different for Baltimore, had it not been for Brian L Hunter. The designated hitter produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 4-3. For the game, Hunter had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Spiers. "But I like how we're playing right now."
The Marlins fall to 11-16 and continue their uneasy start to the 1994 season.
