Ventura Helps Arizona Cruise to 11-3 Win
A 4-RBI performance from the former first round draft pick Robin Ventura helped the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres, 11-3. Brett Tomko earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Padres fall to 11-16 and continue to sputter in the early going.

In the top of the third, Ventura had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring double off Darryl Kile that staked the Diamondbacks to a 1-0 lead.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Ventura.
