Royals Need Extras to Top Knights
|
The Royals had to overcome a fine performance from Charlotte pitcher Ron Robinson to grab a 5-4 win at Comiskey Park. Robinson allowed 2 earned runs over 6.2 innings. The Knights fall to 12-18 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Kansas City took the lead with two out in the top of the tenth when Jim Thome stroked a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4 in favor of Kansas City. For the day, Thome went 1 for 4 with a walk.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Thome after the game.
