Expos Edge Past Orioles, 8-7
|
Travis Fryman was instrumental in his team's 8-7 triumph over the Baltimore Orioles. The third baseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Montreal Expos. Montreal reliever Kent Mercker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Roger McDowell absorbed the loss. The Expos, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Montreal designated hitter Todd Hundley, facing Roger McDowell, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Expos the 8-7 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Hundley said.
