Expos Need Extra Frames to Get Past Tigers
Montreal turned a good effort from starter Chris Nabholz into a win over the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The final score was 8-1. Montreal reliever Dave Leiper picked up the win to move to 1-0. Steve J Kline suffered the loss. Montreal, now 19-10, has played well in the early going.

In the top of the 14th inning of a 1-1 tie, Montreal shortstop Jose Hernandez hit a 3-run home run. It broke the deadlock and put Montreal on top, 4-1.

"We had a nice day," said Montreal skipper David Polakoff.
