Tigers Subdue Washington, 5-3
|
Fans at Tiger Stadium were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Detroit Tigers take on the Washington Senators.
The Detroit Tigers grabbed a 5-3 win over the Washington Senators at Tiger Stadium. Detroit right fielder Rob Ducey went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Jim Neidlinger got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2.
Ducey made an early impact for Detroit when he stroked his 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Tigers on top, 3-0.
"I felt good up there," said Ducey. "I saw the ball well."
The win gives the Tigers a record of 13-15.
