Yankees Lose, 4-1, at Fenway Park
|
Boston starter Pete Harnisch put a stranglehold on the New York offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Red Sox to a 4-1 win. Harnisch picked up the win for Boston, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-10. The Red Sox improved to 54-85.
The Red Sox beat the Yankees with some clutch hitting. The double by Lee Stevens in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Stevens gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he came through with the big hit.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Boston manager Brett Williams.
