Twins Get Close Win Over Royals
Kansas City center fielder Dan Pasqua had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Pasqua went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice, even as Minnesota beat the Royals, 12-11. Pasqua was named the player of the game despite the loss. Minnesota reliever Steve Parris picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Armando Benitez was collared with the loss. At 68-71, the Twins find themselves in 5th place in the Federal League Central Division.

With the clubs tied 11-11 in the bottom of the ninth and the bases loaded, second baseman Brent Gates, who is tied for 9th in the FL in doubles with 31, hit a walk-off run-scoring single.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Gates said.
