Cubs Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rangers
|
The Cubs faced a stiff challenge from Texas pitcher Kenny Rogers, but persevered to claim a win at Arlington Stadium. The final score was 5-4. Rogers went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Mike Stanton, credited with the save, is now 26 for 29 in save opportunities. With the win, the Cubs have a record of 78-62.
Chicago used the bat of Chris Hoiles to get the win. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Cubs ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Hoiles.
