Pagnozzi Delivers Walk-Off Win for Mets
|
New York beat Washington at Shea Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Takehiro Ishii, who earned player of the game honors. The last-place Senators have lost 5 straight games.
Tom Pagnozzi was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Washington manager Alexander Cumana.
