The Montreal Expos defeated the Detroit Tigers, 4-1, in United League action at Tiger Stadium, with Montreal pitcher Pat Hentgen named player of the game. The Expos move to 83-56 with the win, while the Tigers drop to 64-74.

One of the key players for the Expos was shortstop Jose Hernandez, who drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning. For the game, Hernandez went 1 for 4 with a double.

Hernandez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
