Big Day by Bichette Sparks Pilots Win
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Pilots cranked it up at Kingdome.
With right fielder Dante Bichette leading the charge, the Seattle Pilots defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-7, at Kingdome. Bichette, who is tied for 10th in the UL in home runs with 8, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Seattle reliever Mike Henneman was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Jerry DiPoto. Alan Embree earned the save for Seattle, his 1st.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Bip Roberts came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Jerry DiPoto, he hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 7-6.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Robert O'Neill.
Despite the win, Seattle, now 8-21, is off to a terrible start.
