Mets Turn Back Washington, 4-2
The New York Mets picked up a win at Shea Stadium, knocking off the Washington Senators, 4-2. Starting pitcher Frank Castillo was an essential part of his team's success. Dan Plesac got the save, his 28th in 36 chances. The Mets bumped their record to 78-63 with this latest triumph.

The Mets grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out, Lance Johnson, who finished 3rd in the UL in hits with 180 in 1990, hit a solo home run off Andy Pettitte, putting New York in front, 3-1. For Johnson, it was his 3rd home run of the season.

"I really like what we did out there today," Johnson said after the game.
