Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Shea Stadium.

The Toronto Blue Jays managed to get by the New York Mets, 4-3, at Shea Stadium. Toronto pitcher Scott Garrelts took player of the game honors. The Mets, now 79-62, have lost 4 straight.

It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Darrin Jackson, the 11-year veteran . Jackson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Toronto up, 4-3.

"I really like what we did out there today," Jackson said after the game.
