Rockies Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-2 at San Francisco
|
Colorado Rockies starter Curt Schilling was in fine form against the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park, leading his team to a 6-2 win. The winning pitcher was Schilling, now 12-11. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The second-place Rockies have won 5 straight games.
The Rockies got an important contribution from left fielder Juan Gonzalez, who in the top of the seventh punched a 0-1 fastball into left for a 3-run home run. It was his 50th home run of the season and put the Rockies ahead, 5-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Schilling.
