Padres Rally to Eke Out Win
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Mark Bellhorn, the San Diego Padres defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-6. Bellhorn was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Padres. The Padres move to 68-72 with the win, while the Diamondbacks drop to 69-71.

The Diamondbacks had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Padres going into the bottom of the tenth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old third baseman Vinny Castilla came to the plate. Castilla hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Arizona hurler Eddie Guardado. It was Castilla's 18th home run of the year.

In postgame comments to the San Diego Today, Bellhorn said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
