Arizona starter Mike Harkey had a strong outing against the Colorado Rockies at Bank One Ballpark. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-1 win. Arizona reliever Paul Assenmacher picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Clint Zavaras took the loss. Danny Patterson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 39 save opportunities.

Arizona took a 2-1 lead on Mike Bordick's 102nd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Bordick hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Colorado pitcher Joey Eischen shaking his head.
