Multi-HR Game for Mitchell in 8-3 Win
With third baseman Kevin Mitchell leading the charge, the Cleveland Spiders defeated the New York Yankees, 8-3, at League Park. Mitchell, who led the FL in OPS with 1.165 in 1989, slugged 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times. Cleveland is now riding a 3-game win streak.

The Yankees had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Spiders going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Marquis Grissom came to the plate. Grissom hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 fastball from New York hurler Ramon J. Martinez. It was Grissom's 21st double of the year.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Grissom.
