Williams Helps Reds Run Win Streak to 5
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the two-time All-Star Bernie Williams, the Cincinnati Reds stopped the Cleveland Spiders, 7-1. Cincinnati has now won 5 straight.
Cincinnati took a 5-1 lead on Williams's 30th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Sterling Hitchcock in the top of the seventh, propelled Cincinnati to the win.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Cleveland skipper Wilson Ogle. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
