The Florida Marlins topped the Boston Red Sox, 9-4, with third baseman Edgardo Alfonzo playing a big role. Alfonzo went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Marlins in the win. Al Leiter picked up the win, improving his season record to 11-11. He struck out 13 in 8 innings. At 83-59, the Marlins find themselves in second place in the Federal League East Division.
