Royals Finish Off White Sox in 12
|
The Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox put on quite a show at Comiskey Park.
Chicago second baseman Chuck Knoblauch had a good game, even if his team did not. The White Sox dropped a 6-5 decision to Kansas City at Comiskey Park. Knoblauch went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Kansas City reliever Gregg Olson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Cliff Young shouldered the loss. Armando Benitez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 37 of 42 save opportunities.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Andruw Jones to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Royals on top, 6-5. For the game, Jones had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Chicago manager Tyler Vuxta.
The last-place White Sox have dropped 7 straight games.
