Athletics Beat Pilots in 10
|
J.T. Snow did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Seattle Pilots from losing, 6-5, to the Oakland Athletics at Kingdome. Snow was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Joel Johnston picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Bob Milacki was tagged with the loss. Jason Bere converted his 31st save in 36 tries.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Oakland designated hitter Rickey Henderson. In the top of the ninth inning, with no one out and the bases empty, Henderson hit a single to help Oakland seize the win.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Jim B, the Oakland manager.
The 'W' lifts Oakland's record to 65-77.
