Dodgers Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-3 at Oakland
|
Rafael Palmeiro drove in 3 runs to help Los Angeles defeat Oakland, 6-3. The first baseman had 1 double and 1 home run for the Dodgers. Bill Pulsipher got the win, improving to 16-6. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. John Franco got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
Palmeiro had a key at-bat for Los Angeles early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 34th home run of the season and gave Los Angeles an early 2-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Palmeiro said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
With the victory, the Dodgers record now stands at 68-74.
