Red Sox Need Extras to Top Yankees

Boston turned a good effort from starter Mark Thompson into a win over the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The final score was 1-0. The Red Sox sit in 5th place in the Federal League East Division with a record of 52-90.
With one out in the bottom of the tenth, Akira Eto had a game-changing hit. The Red Sox third baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Bill Simas, making the score 1-0, Boston.
Afterward, Red Sox manager Brett Williams was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
