The Cleveland Spiders got a strong performance from pitcher Sterling Hitchcock, who stymied the New York offense en route to a 4-2 win at League Park. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Cleveland.

Kevin Mitchell put Cleveland in front, 3-1, when he took Brian Bohanon downtown. His solo home run came with no one out in the bottom of the sixth. It was his 51st home run of the season.

Hitchcock told a Cleveland News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
