Boston got a first-rate effort from pitcher Willie E Adams, who frustrated Chicago hitters en route to a 3-1 Red Sox triumph at Fenway Park. The Red Sox, with just their 9th win so far in 1997, have yet to catch fire.
Rusty Greer helped out the Boston cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the designated hitter was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
