Late Rally by Cubs Secures Win
|
Getting an impressive start from Scott Chiamparino, Chicago beat Minnesota by the score of 3-1. Mike Stanton got the save, his 27th in 31 chances. The Cubs bumped their record to 80-63 with this latest triumph.
Chicago took a 3-1 lead on Kent Hrbek's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Minnesota pitcher Trevor Hoffman in the bottom of the eighth.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Chiamparino.
