Orioles Beat Expos in 10
Montreal third baseman Jeff Kent had a good game, even if his team did not. The Expos dropped a 11-8 decision to Baltimore at Olympic Stadium. Kent went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner was Baltimore reliever Russ Springer, now 4-4. The loser was Dave Leiper. Roger McDowell earned his 23rd save in 29 chances.

Baltimore used the clutch hitting of Matt Franco to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Orioles the lead, 8-7. For the game, Franco had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Franco told the Baltimore Daily News. "It's as simple as that."

The last-place Orioles lifted their record to 58-85.
